Gregg, I haven't figured out how to post a new topic, but this needs to be put on the "general discussions" board if it hasn't yet.

We'd like to keep track of your donation too. After you send your donation, write an email to birthdaydrive@yahoo.com and let us know how much you donated. We use the "honor system" on the donation. So if you tell us you sent something in - be sure you do!! We want to be able to tell the other fans how we're doing on raising money. In addition, make sure that email address you use is good so we have a way to contact you if there's a problem. In your email, please indicate also how you donated (PayPal, type of cash, check, etc.) so they can make sure they receive your donation. Please don’t forget this, it’s very important.

Why would we like to know how much you donate? We have prizes to give away! We’ll have some weekly prizes, a few daily prizes towards the end of the drive, and you’ll be eligible for the grand prize. How does that work? For every FIVE DOLLARS you donate, we'll put you down for one chance at our Grand Prize. So for instance, if you donate $20, you get 4 entries.

The 2008 Birthday Drive Grand Prize: For four of the last six years, we’ve given away a guitar signed by Sheryl. These guitars were donated by fans just like you, we got it to Sheryl, and she signed it for us. One of our fans came through this year with a great guitar that will be our Grand Prize, and we’ll give it to one of our donors at the end of the drive.

This year's guitar has a little special history behind it. You remember Sheryl's second album, the self-titled Sheryl Crow. In the album art, there was a picture of Sheryl walking away from a trailer, holding a Gretsch electric guitar. Check out a pic from that time:

It's worth about $2500 if you were to go out and try to buy one.   Our friend and drive organizer in Kennett, Jim Baker, has helped us get that guitar signed by Sheryl. It is a great guitar and would be a great addition to anyone's collection. Even if you just want to learn to play, this guitar is special and would be one you would always cherish.  Here are some pictures of Sheryl signing that guitar:

We will ship this guitar to the grand prize winner wherever they live.

We’ve had some great guitars, some lucky winners and some great acts of generosity happen with our drive.

We’ll also have some weekly drawings for additional prizes donated by fans. Our first drawing will be Friday, January 11, and we’ll have them weekly thereafter until all the prizes are gone. I’ll post more on that later. Some of the prizes are very unique and quite collectable. You can win a weekly prize and also be eligible for the grand prize, so the sooner you donate, the sooner you might win something.

Sheryl's birthday is February 11, and we have over a month to get those donations in. If you don't want to participate in the Grand Prize drawing that's fine, just let us know when you write to the birthdaydrive@yahoo.com with your donation amount.

The Delta Childrens Home children need our help. Our donations allow for critical needs like heat, food, blankets, and clothing. They are very thankful for Sheryl's fans and their generosity. We really help them and they deserve our help.

May I ask one final favor? If you’re in touch with someone who is no longer active on the Forum, would you be so kind to invite them back to contribute to this? I would certainly appreciate it, and so would some deserving kids.
