I dunno what it is with Australian seated gigs, but security are very finnicky about whether you can stand or how close you can get to the stage. In Adelaide people were told to get away and sit down, but they were then encouraged to get up and as close to the stage as possible for John Mellencamp.... more

I was @ The Acer arena back in February for Iron Maiden ... The reports I read afterwards stated 8,000, but that was with a standing area, but I guess still at 6,500+ ? Would hate to go a gig there at the same time Stadium Australia is being used on the same night. The public transport was a nightmare as it was, without an extra 40-60,000 people!... more

If you go over the dateline, your arrival time is not too dissimilar to your departure time, so generally don't lose much time at all. Really screws up your body clock the first few times you do it!... more

Gold Seating (ours was 2nd row, dead centre) were AU$150 ... when we bought them a few months back the exchange rate to the US$ was almost 1 to 1, although today it works out around US$97. I think those AU$400 tickets work out around US$260.... more

There are apparently rules within Australia that mean you have to have Australian content, otherwise the headline act has to pay higher fees, hence the reason for someone like Shane on-board. Personally I like his stuff, but we missed the first half of his set because the venue ran on time for the first time ever, however you're right - I'd rather have seen an extra 30 minutes of Sheryl. Did she come out and do anything with John Mellencamp? Being a "special guest" rather than a support act, I thou...... more

First Cut Video from the Adelaide Gig (19 Nov 08)

Yep, they turn 5 very soon and off to school too. My wife said she wishes she started recording at the beginning of the song, but the tears started to flow! Even with the 2 minutes she got, she was wiping away tears quite often ... that's why Sheryl's head gets cut off a couple of times ;-)... more

A Fender Strat and an Ibanez acoustic.. I'd love a telecaster and a Gibson at some stage too, but that's a dream at the moment. Technically I am English ... moved here in 98. I'm an old school metalhead ... don't get into too much of the new stuff. i.e. Metallica, WASP, Skid Row, Guns n'Roses, etc.... more
