Bill - The Trend is the group you are thinking about - all old high school classmates of Sheryl's - and they are good. We would love to open for her. We would even be willing to back her up at Crossroads. :) Jim... more

It..was.. all I . . could do . .to turn loose. (sigh) No joke, I have played several of these, but this was the absoulute finest I've had my hands on. It has dynamic range, playing softly or hard rythm chunking. It was inspected at the Gibson factory on my last birthday (Oct. 1) and signed by Sheyrl on my late Mom's birthday (November 1). It called out to me, but I couldn't talk Mike into taking an old beat-up Epiphone Gary and I have in the Band Room (it is signed by Sheryl). She (the guitar) is now...... more

I don't know how much work Spooner Oldham will do on the album, but he is one o fmy heroes. R & R Hall of Famer (he's older than me - ), founder of the Muscle Shoals Rythm section, is a session guy, songwriter and concert musician (he has toured with everyone from Dylan, CS&N, Neil Young - was out last year with Drive By Truckers). He and Dan Penn helped invent Memphis Music. Well, here . . http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/spooner-oldham The rest of the session group are younger heavy hitters. L...... more

Due to someone else's kindness, Jan and I have these very bracelets. Their "coolness factor" is not to be believed. I feel younger just wearing mine. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming drawings, and thanks to all of you for your support of the Delta Children's Home in honor of Sheryl Jim... more

Margareta - It is so wonderful of you to donate the bracelets. I am wild about mine and Jan loves hers. (You can see Sheryl wearing one in my avatar). The only thing - when I wear it I feel the need to climb into small boats and strike out across large bodies of water :). I want to thank everyone for all of their help and support during the Birthday Drive. Like most organizations, this is the year the DCH can really use it. Cheers from Kennett Jim... more

Hey Gang- Thanks for kicking off the Birthday Drive in such a grand fashion. I'm looking forward to shipping someone that TNMC Deluxe Set next week. Mike, it is my understanding that everyone that donates is entered for this drawing, then is still entered for the Grand Prize. Happy New Years to everyone (on this Blue Moon Night) and be careful out there tonight! Jim... more

I posted this on the Birthday Drive Thread. I got a couple of PMs about my description of the Mystery Photo. I said it was hard AND soft. Well, The SC Signature has a hard exterior, but the sound can be as soft as a feather. I have played it, and it is a wonderful instrument. You can use it or show it. It is gorgeous, and it will be my pleasure to ship it to a lucky winner. Gregg is going to announce a couple of mini-prizes in the next few days for the folks that donate before Jan. 1. All the Be...... more

Hi Gang - As many of you know, I have taken the photos of Sheryl and the Grand Prize for the last several years. I am nothing like a photographer, but she allows me to do it (I use a pretty idiot-proof Canon Power Shot). In other words, I know what is on the other end of that Sharpie in her hand, and I am excited. I've talked to Gregg, and I think I will get a signed copy of the photo (with the Prize visible) for one of the weekly prizes. I can't wait 'til Gregg makes the announcement in a couple ...... more

Hi Gang, and Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for the kind wishes. I was lucky enough to be with friends and family today, and may have eaten a little too much. Got another ticker tune-up, and will hopefully be good for several more miles. Modern medicine and prayers have kept me going, and I am eternally thankful. I am extremely thankful for the prayers and interest of my Forum Friends. We have temporarily suspended The Usual Suspects World Tour :)( we had a gig set for December 5th) but I'm going to ha...... more

Well, we played Jonesboro Saturday night. The playing was fun, and we played about as well as we can. The newly added Music Room at Brickhouse was supposed to open Oct. 30, and we would have played the fourth night it was open. they got to open on Nov. 6. WE were the next night and Sound System Gremilins lay in wait for us. At 7:30 the Staff finally had enough monitors and mics working we coulc break, change, and start at 8 pm. The venue is a lovely old building with 18 ft. tall brick walls, gorgeous...... more

Ice - did someone say Ice? We hat the Mother of all ice storms in January '09. Kennett is in the very central part of the U.S. (450 miles South of Chicago, 500 miles North of New Orleans). We've had ice, snow, floods and 100 degree weather this past year. We get all of the 4 Seasons. As to Gary's Kustom Amp, it is loaded with 2 - 15 inch JBLs in each cabinet. There is nothing like riding through a fast shuffle with him carrying you along on some of the smoothest bass lines. I would not hesitate t...... more

Bill, it was "Stand My Ground." Everybody in the band had a hand in writing it. Funny, but I played the basic song for Dunk over the phone a week before we played at B B's. He came up with a lead part, and we played it all together for the first time at the gig. We were happy with the way it turned out, considering we were winging it. That's where the fun is. There was some video shot, and I haven't heard the audio. If it sounds decent, I'll put it up. It was just a fun "my baby done me wrong and...... more

Hey Mike- Thanks for putting those up. I like the one from my side (even though the sound is bad) because you can see Sheryl laugh off a little "lyric malfunction" on the bridge of MFM. She just laughed (and so did I) and just kept on truckin'. That was fun. Jim... more
